The Loan Calculator for Excel is a collection of six Microsoft Excel
spreadsheets that let you quickly determine how different loan terms affect your
payment obligations.
The primary feature of each spreadsheet is an amortization schedule that shows
you the amount of each loan payment over time.
Another great feature of each spreadsheet is a loan summary that provides key
information about the number of payments required, loan payoff date and total
interest paid over the life of the loan.
In addition to the amortization schedule and loan summary, each spreadsheet
contains a graph showing the proportion of each payment that is applied to
principal vs. interest during the term of the loan.
The six spreadsheets that are included in the Loan Calculator for Excel are
listed below:
Fixed Rate Traditional Loan:
This Fixed Rate Traditional Loan Calculator is used for
analyzing traditional fixed rate loans such as fixed rate mortgages and car
loans. The loan may have up to 1,000 payment periods and the payment frequency
is fully adjustable. An extra unscheduled payment amount may be added to each
payment period.
The loan summary includes: Scheduled Payment Amount, Scheduled Number of
Payments, Actual Number of Payments, Loan Payoff Date, Total Amount of Extra
Payments and Total Interest Paid.
A full amortization schedule and a chart
showing the breakdown of principal and interest payments over time are both
automatically created.
Fixed Rate Balloon Loan:
The Fixed Rate Balloon Loan Calculator is a great tool for analyzing loans that
require a large balloon payment at the end of the loan term. The loan may have
up to 1,000 payment periods. The payment frequency, amortization basis and fixed
rate payment period are all fully adjustable. An extra unscheduled payment
amount may be added to each payment period.
The loan summary includes: Scheduled Payment Amount, Scheduled Number of
Payments, Actual Number of Payments, Loan Payoff Date, Total Amount of Extra
Payments, Total Interest Paid and Balloon Payment Amount.
A full amortization schedule and a chart
showing the breakdown of principal and interest payments over time are both
automatically created.
Fixed Rate Interest Only Loan:
The Fixed Rate Interest Only Loan Calculator is used for analyzing fixed rate
loans that have a predetermined period when only interest payments are required.
This results in lower payments in the early part of the loan and higher payments
in the latter part of the loan.
The loan may have up to 1,000 payment periods. The payment frequency and
interest only period are all fully adjustable. An extra unscheduled payment
amount may be added to each payment period.
The loan summary includes: Scheduled Payment Amount During Interest Only
Period, Scheduled Payment Amount After Interest Only Period, Scheduled Number of
Payments, Actual Number of Payments, Loan Payoff Date, Total Amount of Extra
Payments and Total Interest Paid.
A full amortization schedule and a chart
showing the breakdown of principal and interest payments over time are both
automatically created.
Adjustable Rate Traditional Loan:
This Adjustable Rate Traditional Loan Calculator is used for
analyzing traditional adjustable rate loans such as adjustable rate mortgages and car
loans. The loan may have up to 1,000 payment periods and the payment frequency
is fully adjustable. An extra unscheduled payment amount may be added to each
payment period. In addition, the interest rate is adjustable for every payment
period in the loan.
The loan summary includes: Scheduled Number of
Payments, Actual Number of Payments, Loan Payoff Date, Total Amount of Extra
Payments and Total Interest Paid.
A full amortization schedule and a chart
showing the breakdown of principal and interest payments over time are both
automatically created. Because scheduled payments for adjustable rate loans can
vary by each payment period, the Scheduled Payment Amount is listed for each
payment period in the Amortization Schedule instead of the Loan Summary.
Adjustable Rate Balloon Loan:
The Adjustable Rate Balloon Loan Calculator is a great tool for analyzing
adjustable rate loans that require a large balloon payment at the end of the
loan term. The loan may have up to 1,000 payment periods. The payment frequency,
amortization basis and adjustable rate payment period are all fully adjustable.
An extra unscheduled payment amount may be added to each payment period. In
addition, the interest rate is adjustable for every payment period in the loan.
The loan summary includes: Scheduled Number of
Payments, Actual Number of Payments, Loan Payoff Date, Total Amount of Extra
Payments, Total Interest Paid and Balloon Payment Amount.
A full amortization schedule and a chart
showing the breakdown of principal and interest payments over time are both
automatically created. Because scheduled payments for adjustable rate loans can
vary by each payment period, the Scheduled Payment Amount is listed for each
payment period in the Amortization Schedule instead of the Loan Summary.
Adjustable Rate Interest Only Loan:
The Adjustable Rate Interest Only Loan Calculator is used for analyzing
adjustable rate loans that have a predetermined period when only interest
payments are required. This results in lower payments in the early part of the
loan and higher payments in the latter part of the loan.
The loan may have up to 1,000 payment periods. The payment frequency and
interest only period are all fully adjustable. An extra unscheduled payment
amount may be added to each payment period. In addition, the interest rate is
adjustable for every payment period in the loan.
